Known as remembrance or death cards, they were given to family and friends of the deceased. Made from light card stock, this particular card remembers Oberleutnant and Kompanie-Führer Heinrich Georg. A decorated officer, Georg was posthumously promoted to Hauptmann of Panzer Regiment 1 following his death on November 30th 1943. Additionally he earned an Iron Cross 2nd Class in Poland, a Panzer Assault Badge in Belgium, and both the Ostmedaille and Iron Cross 1st Class in Russia. Included is a small newspaper clipping, notifying of Georg’s passing on the Eastern Front. An excellent example of a Panzer Officer’s death card with his picture included.
