Manufactured in 1945 by Glisson & Miller, the size 4 suit easily fits a 6 foot stature. Though not easily seen in the photo, the broad arrow mark is partially hidden by the fold at the bottom seam of the tag. The many period appropriate repairs as photographed suggest this suit was used quite extensively but cannot be certain of when.
Embroidered on a cotton triangle measuring 9.5 cm x 8.5 cm, an olive drab border surrounds the colors of the infantry, cavalry, and artillery. A red lightening bolt overlays a canon affixed to tank tracks, while the numeral "5" denotes the 5th Armored Division.
Sewn below the left shoulder seam, a stunning theatre made 8th Army Airforce patch. Four inches above the left cuff, five gold overseas bars are present suggesting two and a half years of service. Below, a single diagonal service stripe noting 3 years of honourable service. Sewn below the right shoulder seam, a British made example of the Head Quarters, European Theater of Operations.
